Western Counselling is a residential treatment centre and accommodation is provided in three houses. Two are dedicated to Primary care; St David's is a single sex house and Meijers is a mixed house. Clarence Park Lodge is dedicated to Secondary care and is also mixed.
All are within a short walk of the centre. You will be assigned a house on admission. Each house has a dedicated cook who prepares delicious homemade food and a housekeeper.
We strongly believe that keeping living space separate from the treatment centre allows you to re-build your personal separation of domestic, social and leisure from 'work'.
Maintaining this separation and routine will be an important part of your recovery as it mirrors a typical life pattern that is very different from the chaos of life in addiction.
Most rooms are shared, with one other client of the same sex - this is part of our therapeutic approach. There are shared facilities such as TV lounge, dining room and communal outdoor space.
Group therapy, therapeutic duties and counselling sessions take place at the house. Within the house community you will also learn life skills such as planning and cooking meals, supervised by the cook. We also encourage clients to take an interest in our allotment, its development and harvesting produce for use in meal preparation.
