The theme of our annual reunion on Saturday 3rd September was ‘Gratitude’. We are all agreed that it was our best reunion ever with clients travellin from all over the country to attend. Many thanks to Selina, James and Mary who gave emotional and powerful main shares; there were numerous shares back from the floor with people identifying and expressing gratitude for thier lives today thanks to the treatment programme at Western Counselling and the opportunity they were given to attend residential rehab. There were tears in the eye for many (even our counsellor Carol and many of our clients will know she’s tough, she’s seen it all and heard it all!)

Dominic represented the Concordat Graduates and gave a stirring speech about the number of rehabs that have closed over recent years and the importance of demonstrating that abstinence is not only possible, it is wonderful!!  Afterwards a number of people agreed to act as representatives for the Concordat Graduates as a means of expressing their gratitude once again for the opportunity afforded them through the programme they received.

Everyobody at the centre feels enourmous gratitude for being able to be part of the transformation and transition of so many lives from active addiction to abstinence recovery and all the benefits that brings to the individual, their family, our communities, to our health system, criminal justice system and social cohesion.

The reunion is always a great opportunity for people  to share their experiences of sobriety and their lives in Recovery and to express gratitude for their lives today. So make sure you put the date in for next year - St Pauls again on Walliscote Road, Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 01 September 2012.
